You have opened this article to read because you love your children and you want them to excel in their life. I am going to share with you the importance of your role in your child’s education but before that, I would like to ask you a question.
What is the first thing that comes into your mind when I say “Parents play a very important role in their child’s education”. Some of you will think is ” yes, We play an important role” and also some of you will think ” Really, but how? because I do not teach my child”. Parents of the grown-ups will think ” They take their own decisions for their career and not we?”
Every one of you are looking at this statement from your point of view but the truth is Yes, the involvement of the parent in their child’s education is very important. For children parents are the source from which they get wind with for their entire life. In a simple word If the children are the Electric bulb then the parents are the source of Electricity. You are source of light for your children.
The education of your child starts from your home and later from school and not vice versa. If you are reading this article you are at least, mildly curious about the role Parents Play in the development of the child. And why not? As
Khalil Jibran Says:-
“You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable. “
Here are three actions which you can take that will impact your children’s future in a better way.
1. Become a role model for your children for learning:-
Parents are their children’s first teachers. Kids notice what you do. If they notice you reading a book then they will definitely try to copy you. The best is to sit with them and read a book with them and this creates an interest for your child to read books. Doing things collectively with parents give your child a sense of support and self-confidence.
My father is my role model. In my childhood, I used to observe my father that when he used to come home from the office he used to keep everything in place like his wallet, belt, his office bag and after that he used to go to freshen up. I started doing the same thing while coming back from school. Now I am married but still, I do this because now it’s in my genes.
Since childhood, my mother always used to teach me that never take money from anyone and if you want then ask your parents. Live your life with what you have. In my life, many ups and downs came but I did not take money from anyone except my parents.
2. Observe how your child learns:-
It is very important for you as a parent to know how your child learns different things. Some of the children learn visually like through seeing and taking pictures. Some through the tactile experiences such as by making towers by building blocks or by playing with clay. Many children learn by listening.
My parents noticed that my pattern of learning was reading the content loud and at the same time writing it. Whenever there used to a silence in my study room they used to get that I am not studying and I do this till date. Even while I am writing this I am reading loud!!!!
3. Being interested in your child:
It is very important that you take interest in your child ‘s life. What kind of person he or she is ?. Is he or she is a talker or a shy person? Look into what are the things that create interest in your child like watching cartoons, making drawings, playing out with friends and many more and let your child explore his interest.
Once you know these two things it will be easy for you to guide your child on the right career path.
Let me share from my life, my niece Kanchan is an amazing human being. She is just 13 but she does an amazing painting. Every time I meet her she shows her beautiful paintings to me. Her paintings define her who she is. I really want her to be a famous painter.
So what are you waiting for ??? Go and just be there with your children!!!!
I would like to hear from you, what education you got from your parents???
