‘Statue of Unity’
The Statue of Unity is a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the Narmada district of Gujarat, India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat’s Narmada district on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on october 31st, 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat. Hes was a great freedom activist and the first deputy prime minister of India. Sardar Patel’s tireless efforts towards the unity of the country brought success. He united a dispersed nation without much bloodshed. Due to the accomplishment of this great task, Sardar Patel obtained the title of “Iron Man of India”.
The Tallest Statue in the World
The height of the statue is 182 metres (597 feet). The statue holds the record for the tallest statue in the world. It is four times higher than the Statue of Liberty. The statue is located on a Sadhu Bet island near Rajpipla on the Narmada river, 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Vadodara. It is just 3.5 km away from Kevadia town and approx 200 km from Ahmedabad.
Estimated Cost of the ‘Statue of Unity’
The total project cost of the ‘Statue of Unity’ is estimated to be Rs. 2,989 crore by the Government. The statue portrays Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, wearing a traditional dhoti and shawl, towering over river Narmada.
‘Statue of Unity’ Ticket Price
You can book tickets by online which has already started. Ticket price starts from Rs 120 for adults and Rs 60 for kids between 3-15 years. For toddlers under 3, entry is free. For the best view of Statue of Unity, ticket price is 350 Rs. per person. Entry gates are open from 9 am to 6 pm every day.
