Delhi Air Pollution – The Air Quality Slipped to ‘Very Poor’

The capital of India, Delhi has failed to prevent the air quality from falling into the “very poor” category on Diwali.

Despite several restrictions and the two-hour window to burst only the “green patakha” ordered by the Supreme Court, the people of Delhi continued to burst firecrackers until late. The Supreme Court had allowed bursting of crackers on Diwali from 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality of Delhi was 302 AQI –‘very poor’ category — at 11 pm in Delhi-NCR.

The Air Quality Index around Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and Anand Vihar touched 999 while the US Embassy in Chanakyapuri scored 459.

The AQI level from 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 is poor, 301 to 400 is very poor, and 401 and above is considered as severe.
